about

A song in praise of "...journalistic endeavors, not quite Pulitzer Prizes, but still rather clever."

lyrics

National Star (Jim Glendinning)

I was reading a paper in the grocery store line
Not an influential magazine like Newsweek or Time
The paper I was reading had the headlines that read
"Elvis returned - brought back from the dead"

Cho: They had aliens and Big Foot and the man on the moon
Two-headed dog, creatures from the black lagoon
Yes it's hard to believe but I know that it's true
‘Cause I've read them and probably so have you

I'm glad we’re supporting these journalistic endeavors
Not quite Pulitzer Prizes but still rather clever
Where would we be, oh, and what would we do
While we're standing in that grocery store line

Cho: They had aliens and Big Foot and the man on the moon
Two-headed dog, creatures from the black lagoon
Yes it's hard to believe but I know that it's true
‘Cause I've read them and probably so have you

They had a photograph of an artist’s rendition to prove it
They had eye-witness accounts some institution just let out
It's hard to believe what these headlines have said
"Elvis returned - brought back from the dead"

Cho: They had aliens and Big Foot and the man on the moon
Two-headed dog, creatures from the black lagoon
Yes it's hard to believe but I know that it's true
‘Cause I've read them and probably so have you

about

The June Bugs Wilmington, Delaware

Sam and Lou played in a rock band for 10 years and finally concluded rock & roll is a young man's game. However a banjo player can be 95 years old and still have credibility, so they switched to folk, bluegrass and gospel. They asked Lisa to sing with them because their voices both stunk and hers was very good. The name "The June Bugs" was chosen after an extensive free-association-by-email. ... more
